If you find yourself reading this plugin we assume you already have it installed on your blog(download it from www.server.noprimetime.com, read the installation tutorial at http://www.noprimetime.com/plugin/tutorial_plugin_installation.php). You also need a NoPrimeTime Wordpress plugin account for it to function, which you can get directly from your Wordpress dashboard under Options -> NoPrimeTime Video Configuration or at www.server.noprimetime.com . Then you're all set.
1. The account
The NoPrimeTime Wordpress plugin account comes with a default campaign and channel set up. You can now use the plugin by embedding a new video(use the green button in the Write Post page in Wordpress) and a test ad will appear for a few seconds at 5% into the video. The channel is defaulted on your Wordpress domain, which means that our server will display ads on your domain only. Read below for more info on how to customize the campaign and channel.
Regardless of the settings you make when you first set up the account, you can edit all of them afterwards. So don't be afraid to try anything. And make sure to drop us a line at feedback@noprimetime.com to tell us how it went. Oh, and don't try to edit the statistics, it won't work :)
The ad is the file used as an advertisement in your video. These are the supported formats:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Independent of the format your ad is, it should not be bigger than the zone the video uses(check the channel's dimensions). If you use Youtube videos as a source, the dimensions are 320x240.
A campaign is the advertisement itself, along with the necessary customizations. Its efficiency can be easily tracked via the statistics page. To make a new campaign just click the Quick New Campaign button, upload an ad in the above format then set the details on the next page and activate your campaign. You can live-test it before activation just to be sure. Then, just cross your fingers and keep reloading the statistics page :).
A channel is a website on which you run your ad campaign. You shouldn't have too much to tamper with the channel if you use the plugin, but we'll explain here what the deal is nonetheless.
Our system will only serve ads on those sites that have a channel set up, and on the settings of that channel. You can have a campaign running both on the index page of your site at the 320x240px resolution, and on the "Special Shows" blog page of your site, at the same resolution. If you want to have the same campaign running on 2 video resolutions on your site you need to make 2 channels with the respective resolutions and then select the campaign to run on those channels. You will then be prompted to upload the 2 different sized ads corresponding with the channels' dimensions(one file for each channel the campaign is run). You now have the same campaign running on two different channels that you can track independently.
You can upload a video in .flv format to your FTP in a subdirectory called "youtube" in your uploads directory(the default would be wp-content/uploads/youtube) or you can download one from Youtube and host it on your blog by using our plugin(from the Write Post page in Wordpress).
Then, just go with the default campaign we created and select the channel from the plugin popup that appears when you click the green button in the Write Post page or customize a campaign in your NoPrimeTime account.
So: plugin, account, campaign and channel. That is all to get you running. Tell us how it went. Email us at feedback@noprimetime.com for any questions/suggestions.
